## add(name, value) {#str_str}

Adds a document variable to the collection.


```python
def add(self, name: str, value: str):
    ...
```

| Parameter | Type | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| name | str | The case-insensitive name of the variable to add. |
| value | str | The value of the variable. The value cannot be ``None``, if value is null empty string will be used instead. |
